Gmail rolls out in-app predictive back on Android 14

Google has yet to enable system-position Prophetic Back in Android 14, but the in-app variant is live in some apps, including Gmail.

Prophetic Back shows an exercise of the home screen as you swipe back from the left wing/ right edge of an operation. It’s meant to address how the current reverse gesture can affect “ people leaving the app by mistake. ” Google set up that the “ new Prophetic Back point has been shown to outperform the current experience in end druggies ’ task completion, preference, satisfaction, confidence, and premiums. ” It wants third-party inventors to borrow it.

Android 14 was first anticipated to enable Prophetic Back, but it remains behind inventor options> Prophetic back robustness Enable system robustness for prophetic reverse.

Meanwhile, Android 14 introduces support for custom in-app transitions robustness and this is live on a per-operation base without having to enable anything. We recently noticed Prophetic Back in Gmail — interpretation2024.03.03.x — when closing a dispatch. This complements the vitality when tapping the reverse button in the top-left corner.

You have to swipe back on the left wing/ right edge to see the dispatch screen shrink into a window with rounded corners. You'll see your inbox in the background to give some environment. For comparison, iOS has its sliding pane conceit.

This joins the app Prophetic Back in Google timetable’s Schedule or Day view when closing a fullscreen event. We’ve also seen it when closing an overflow distance in YouTube Music. Again, this requires Android 14 on Pixel, Samsung, etc.
